Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Trimble Co. WILLIAM PRESTON GIDDENS was born in Trimble County, July 13, 1850, a son of Robert H. Giddens, a native of Kentucky, and America (Perkinson) Giddens, also a native of the same State. He was reared on the farm, received his early education at the common schools, and later attended Hanover College, Jefferson County, Ind., and Ghent College, Ghent, Ky. In 1875 he settled where he now resides, owns forty-seven acres of land, and is engaged in farming and teaching. In 1874 he married Anna Pogue, daughter of William and Zerelda (Buchanan) Pogue, of Jefferson County, Ind. To this union two children were born: Walter B. and Dixie B. Mr. and Mrs. Giddens are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and politically Mr. Giddens is a Democrat.
