WILLIAM M. ROGERS, dentist at Shelbyville, was born in Owensboro, Ky.,
October 31, 1825, and is a son of James M. and Margaret C. (Muir) Rogers,
natives of Kentucky and Maryland.  They were married near Bardstown, Ky.,
November 11, 1824, and had born to their union six children: William M.,
James M., Elizabeth J., Harriett, George W. and Philip.  William M. was
reared in Owensboro, and received his education principally at that
place.  In 1844 he attended Alleghany [sic] College at Meadville, Penn.
After that he taught school a few years, and after that commenced the study
of dentistry, and in 1866 graduated in dentistry from the Ohio College of
Dental Surgery at Cincinnati, Ohio.  Previous to that time he had practiced
dentistry five years at Princeton, Ky.  In 1856 he settled in Shelbyville,
where he has been engaged in practice since, and is regarded by his patrons
as one of the most skillful and reliable men in his profession.  January
25, 1849, he married Mary E. Cavot, an adopted daughter of the
distinguished Julia A. Tevis, of Shelbyville.  They have two adopted
children, orphaned by the war, William S. and Mary A.  Dr. and Mrs. Rogers
are in high standing, and active members of the Methodist Episcopal
Church South.  Dr. Rogers is a member of the F. & A. M., and politically
is a Democrat.
