WASHINGTON LISBY is a native of Shelby County, born February 11, 1835, the youngest of a family of five sons and four daughters born to Jefferson and Callie (Hedden) Lisby. His father was born in Kentucky, February 1, 1804, and died in 1869. His mother was a native of Shelby County, born July 6, 1801, and died about 1859. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. The paternal grandfather of our subject was a native of North Carolina, came to Kentucky when a young man, settled on the farm where his grandson now resides, and was one of the earliest settlers of Shelby County. Washington Lisby was reared on the farm, and devoted his time to agricultural pursuits, and is a widely known farmer and stock dealer. He was untied in marriage September 20, 1859, with Annie Ritter, and their union has been blessed by the birth of four sons and two daughters: Adie B. born September 11, 1860; William McClelland, August 30, 1862; Marion W., September 2, 1865; Dudley E., January 21, 1868; Clara L., January 4, 1878 and James H., February 28, 1881.
