SAMUEL HARBISON was born in Shelby County, June 19, 1825, and is the third son of Samuel and Sarah (Crawford) Harbison. Samuel Harbison, the elder, was a son of David Harbison, a native of Ireland, was born in Virginia in 1781, enlisted in the war of 1812, rose to the rank of colonel, and served for many years as magistrate after his removal to Shelby County, where he kept a tannery, and died in 1857. Of his four sons and three daughters all have died except Samuel and George W., who reside in Shelby County. Mrs. Sarah Harbison was born October 6, 1798, and died August 7, 1855. Samuel Harbison, our subject, is a farmer, and owns 340 acres; is also a director of the Farmers' and Traders' Bank. February 20, 1851, he married Miss Ammacette Shannon, a native of Shelby County, and a daughter of Samuel Shannon. The children born to this marriage are Mary Louella, Emmett C. and Lizzie D.
