Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. WILLIAM ROBERT EASLEY was born in Shelby County, September 10, 1854, the only child of Jasper N. and Lucy J. (Elliston) Easley. His father was a native of Mississippi, born in 1825, and was by occupation a farmer and cabinet-maker. He came to Kentucky in 1855 and settled in Harrisonville, where he resided until his death in January, 1875. Aside from his farming and undertaking business, he was engaged in general merchandising. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity. His father, William Easley, was a native of Virginia, came to Kentucky at an early date and settled near Harrisonville, where he lived for a number of years, and then removed to Illinois, where he lived until his death. Subject's mother was a native of Anderson County, Ky., born in 1834, was a member of the Southern presbyterian Church, and died in March, 1876. Her father was a native of Virginia, and coming to Kentucky at an early date, settled in Anderson County. OUr subject's early life was passed until his twenty-first year with his father on the farm, and after his father's death he managed the farm. He was united in marriage, November 14, 1876, with Lillian Hankins, an estimable lady of Shelby County, and daughter of the eminent physician and surgeon, F. M. Hankins, of Harrisonville. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union: Jasper M., born April 1, 1878; William L., born August 1, 1881, and Georgie D., born July 6, 1885. Politically, Mr. Easley has been a life-long Democrat. He was appointed deputy clerk of Shelby County and served four years, discharging the duties of the office in a highly commendable manner. He has a well cultivated farm of nearly 600 acres, part of which is in Anderson County--150 acres--as well cultivated. He is one of Shelby County's leading farmers.
