Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, Rockcastle County Aden G. Lovell, a practicing physician of Mount Vernon, Rockcastle County, Ky., was born in Bedford, Ind., December 3, 1853, a son of James and Mary (Cole) Lovell, natives, respectively, of Pulaski County, Ky., and Bloomfield, Ind.. James and Mary Lovell were the parents of seven children, viz: William, George, James, Isaac, Margaret, Aden G. and John C. Aden G. Lovell was reared and educated in his native town, and subsequently attended the Northern Indiana Normal School at Valparaiso. In 1874 he commenced teaching school, and in 1876-77 he taught the Mitchell Graded School and the following year at Orleans, Ind.. In 1878 he moved to Mount Vernon, where he taught school until 1880. Previous to this he had, however, read medicine, and in 1880 he entered the Louisville Medical College, from which institution he graduated in February, 1883. He then located at Mount Vernon and engaged in practice until 1886, when he removed to Louisville, but remained only one year, and then returned to Mount Vernon. August 27, 1882, he married Mollie Whitaker, a daughter of Nathan and Sarah (Moore) Whitaker, of Rockcastle County, One child was born to their union, John T., born February 11, 1884, and died December 5, 1886. Mr. Lovell was elected county superintendent in 1884, and served one term. He is a Republican politically, and is a member of the Christian Church.
