Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Robertson County F.M. YOUNG, of Robertson County, Ky., was born in Fleming County in 1841. His father, H.S. Young, is a farmer, and was for twelve years a magistrate. Alexander Young, grandfather of F.M. Young, came from Pennsylvania in about 1800 and settled in Mason County, Ky., whence he moved to Fleming County, and was killed in the war of 1812, at Fort Meigs, Ohio. The mother of F.M. Young was, before her marriage, a Miss Thompson, of Virginia, and his grandmother a Miss Stockdale, of Ireland, who came to this country when but seven years of age. F.M. Young was reared on the home farm, and was educated in the common schools of the county. From the age of eighteen he taught school for six years and then, in 1863, enlisted in the Tenth Kentucky Cavalry, under Col. Tevis, and received his discharge in 1864. He married, in 1854, Mary E. Bentley, daughter of George D. Bentley, of Fleming County, and this marriage has been blessed by the birth of six children, named George D., Charles, Edith, Hugh S., Dick and Clarence. Mr. Young is a Freemason, a member of the Baptist Church, and in politics is a Republican. He is now engaged in merchandising at Mt. Olivet, Robertson County.
