Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Robertson County NIMROD WORKMAN was born in Bracken County, Ky., in 1854, and is a son of Spencer and Martha (Neaves) Workman, the former a native of Bourbon and the latter of Bracken County. His grandfather was named James, and was born in Maryland. He was a farmer and weaver, and come to Bourbon County, Ky., when young, and married Miss Fitzpatrick, of Bourbon County. The parents of Mrs. Martha (Neaves) Workman were Walter and Julia (Worrel) Neaves, of Bracken County. Nimrod Workman was educated at the Normal School. Lebanon, Ohio, and afterward taught school two years. Although a farmer and the owner of 160 acres of good farming land in Kansas, he engaged in merchandising in Pin Hook Precinct, Robertson County, Ky., in 1886, and is still doing a good trade. He is a member of Lodge No. 475, A.F.&A.M., at Pin Hook, and of the Christian Church. He is a Republican, and four years ago was constable; resigned and went to Oklahoma, in the Indian Territory, expecting to settle a homestead, but finding it was not open for settlement went to Ford County, Kan., pre-empted 160 acres of land, camped on it until he got a dugout ready to live in, lived in it six months, hunted most of the time, and killed plenty of antelope; proved up the land in January, 1885, came back to Kentucky, and has since been engaged in merchandising.
