Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Robertson County ELDRIDGE KENTON was born near Blue Lick, Nicholas County, Ky., February 14, 1833, and is a son of William and Mary (Burden) Kenton, natives of Virginia. He was reared to farming and was educated at the common schools. He settled in Robertson County about twenty years ago, but had served in the Third Kentucky Mexican Volunteers. He was sheriff of Bracken County four years and for four years sheriff of Robertson County. September 14, 1854, he married Hannah T. Wiglesworth, of Harrison County, born in 1835, but now deceased. His second marriage was to Miss Nancy E. Henson, of Bracken County, and to this union has been born one child, William T. Kenton. Mr. Kenton has represented Robertson and Nicholas Counties in the Lower House of the Kentucky Legislature, and in politics is a Democrat. He owns 800 acres of fine land in Robertson County, 250 acres of Nicholas County land (the Governor Metcalfe farm), and is an extensive dealer in tobacco.
