She was educated at Grassy Creek, Pendleton County, and, in 1868, was married to James H. Barker, who was born near Crittenden, Grant Co., Ky., was a son of Stephen Barker, was a carpenter by trade, and died at the age of sixty-six, a member of the Masonic fraternity.
