Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. WILLIAM M. McMEEKIN was born in Oldham County, Ky., near West Port, May 5, 1865, the last of our children born to Samuel D. and Sidney J. (Halbert) McMeekin, natives of Kentucky. Samuel D., a son of Charles McMeekin, a native of Kentucky, was born in Nelson County, Ky., but moved with his parents to Missouri when quite a youth, remained there for a number of years, but afterward moved back to his native State and settled in Oldham County. He has always followed farming. Our subject was reared on the farm, and educated at Eminence College. He has devoted his attention to agricultural pursuits from boyhood with the exception of two years, 1882 and 1883, that he was in Louisa trading. He settled where he now resided in 1885, and has 320 acres of valuable land, all well improved. January 6, 1885, he married Miss Tina Smith, a daughter of Benjamin R. and Harriet Smith, of Henry County. Mr. and Mrs. McMeekin are members of the Baptist Church. Politically he is a Democrat.
