Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. ROBERT G. HOLLOWAY is a son of John and Elizabeth (Martin) Holloway, natives of Carroll County, Ky., and of English descent. He was born in Carrollton February 28, 1839, removed to Shelby County in 1871, and to Ballardsville, Oldham County, in 1880, and is a carpenter and contractor by trade, having served an apprenticeship of four years at the business in Frederickburg, Va. In 1861 he enlisted at Corsicana, Tex., and was wounded at Antietam and was discharged in April, 1865. In 1875 he married Mrs. Lucy McAllister Oglesby, a native of Shelby County and daughter of Daniel and Sarah Mattox, natives of Virginia, but who were quite young when they came to Shelby County, Ky.
