Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. ALLEN W. BROWN, merchant of Worth, Oldham Co., Ky., was born February 8, 1850, and is a son of Jackson J. and Elmire (Sharp) Brown, natives, respectively of Oldham County, Ky., and Tennessee. The father of Jackson J. Brown was born in North Carolina, came to Kentucky in 1802, and settled one-half mile west of Worth, where he was engaged in distilling and farming. Jackson Brown was born in 1814, and died March 18, 1855. Allen W. Brown, from 1868 to 1872, was employed in a flour and saw mill near Brownsboro, and in the latter year began the general merchandising business at Worth, which he has since continued with unvarying success. September 5, 1879, he married Miss Nannie E. Cassidy, daughter of W. D. Cassidy, deceased, and there have been born to him two children: Norwin and Ada Maud.
