Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. C. P. ADAMS was born near where he now resides near Goshen, in Oldham County, Ky. He is the third son of James M. and Matilda (McClintock) Adams, of whom the former was born near Jeffersonville, Clark Co., Ind. C. P. Adams began life with no means to back him, but by industry and perseverance has accumulated a handsome property, now owning a farm of 175 acres, and being engaged in stock raising, making Shorthorn cattle a specialty. Mr. Admas was first married to Miss Susan Archer, who bore him two children, and died a few years after marriage. His second wife, Lavinia Brown, is a daughter of James M. and Martha A. Brown, of Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Adams are members of the Christian CHurch, while he is a Free Mason and a Democrat.
