By permission of author. Ohio County. SANFORD PRESTON, as previously noticed on page 32, had married Charter Member Mary Ann "Polly" Rogers (1815-1843), on November 2nd, 1837. They were lettered out shortly thereafter, only to return by letter to the Church in 1840. They had three sons. After her death in 1843, he was married a second time. His second wife, Eliza, became a member by Christian experience and baptism in June, 1856. He, his wife, and youngest son, Jonathan L. Preston, were lettered out in September, 1858 when they moved to Valley Mills, Texas. Previous to this he had served the Church as a Deacon from July 31, 1853; having been ordained by Baptist Ministers Alfred Taylor and James F. Austin. He was also a Church Trustee at the same time.
