A Sesquicentennial History of the Green River Missionary Baptist Church 1836 - 1986, Written and Compiled by Wendell Holmes Rone, Sr., For the One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the Founding of the Church, 1987. By permission of author. Ohio County. JOHN F. JAMES served as the fourth Pastor of Green River Church from January, 1866, through February, 1867, only one year, when he resigned. We have found very little concerning him. He served Hazel Creek Church, Muhlenberg County, in 1869-1870; and, also Oak Grove Church, of the same County, in 1869. He was a brother to Dr. A. D. James. Records show that he also pastored the Union Church in 1873 and the Salem Church in 1866-1867, both located in Butler County. The last mentioned Church was served by him as a Messenger to the Gasper River Association in 1865-1867. James = Muhlenberg-KY Butler-KY http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/ohio/james.jf.txt
