"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, pp. 382-383. Used by permission. [Ohio] DAVID ARTHUR DAILEY: This universally beloved brother and minister of the Gospel was born at Bloomdale, Wood County, Ohio, on August 18, 1879, and is the son of the late Samuel and Sarah Dailey. His mother lived to the advanced age of ninety-seven and died in 1942. Our brother did not have much opportunity for an advanced education in his boyhood days. He later attended Georgetown College three years and finished the English Course at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1914. His early life was spent on his father's farm and in later years he taught school for three years, two of these years at Hyat's and Briery in Pulaski County, and one year at Pleasant Point in Lincoln County. Our brother experienced the saving grace of the Lord at the age of thirteen and was baptized into the fellowship of the Eubank Baptist Church by Pastor Aquila Mobley, a plain old-fashioned country preacher. He was later licensed to preach by this Church and was ordained to the ministry in September, 1908, by Pastor W. G. Tilford, and Elders Aquila Mobley, William Cross, W. R. Davidson, and a man by the name of Owens. Since his ordination our brother has served the following Churches: Sadieville, Scott County, 1909-1911; Goshen, Anderson County, 1910-1914; Mt. Eden, Shelby County, 1912-1914; Upper John's Creek, Pike County, 1915-1922; McVeigh, Pike County, 1921-1922, all in Kentucky. He has also served the following Churches in the Ohio County and Daviess-McLean Associations: McHenry, Ohio County, 1922- 1923; Dawson, Daviess County, 1925-1929; Karn's Grove, Daviess County, 1925-1930; Green Brier, Daviess County, 1925-1926; Pleasant Grove, Daviess County, 1926-1936; New Panther Creek, Ohio County, 1931-1936; Mt. Liberty, McLean County, 1930-1939; Panther Creek, Daviess County, 1930-1939; Pleasant Ridge, Daviess County, 1925-1928. He served as clerk of the Enterprise Association in the years 1915-1921; as Moderator of the Daviess-McLean Association in 1932 and 1933; and preached the annual sermon before the Daviess-McLean Association in the year 1931. From October, 1923, to November, 1924, he served as a Field Worker in the Ohio County Association. He has held the same position with the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association since November, 1936. Up to November, 1940, this work was for half- time but since the last mentioned date has been on a full time basis. In the period 1915-1922 he was employed by the State Mission Board at McVeigh, Pike County, Kentucky. Bro. Dailey was married to Miss Amanda Renich of Woodstock, Illinois, on August 19, 1914. She is the daughter of Fred and Catherine Renich. They have two children. Arthur Renich, who entered the ministry and is now a missionary of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention at Barranquilla, Colombia, S. A., and Mary Catherine, who is now Mrs. Clarence C. Brown. Young Brother Dailey's wife is the former Miss Dorothy Elam of Lexington, Kentucky. Bro. Daily has spent the major portion of his ministry in country Churches and has performed a lasting work with them all. He has majored on the organizational side of Church life and has been very successful from that standpoint. He is of the opinion that if we could have more qualified and trained pastors in the country Churches to live with and lead the Churches it would be the means of a more rapid growth in Kingdom work than anything else that could occur. One thing can be well said about Bro. Dailey's life and ministry, his people loved him.
