"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, pp. 296-297. Used by permission. [Ohio] JOHN THOMAS CASEBIER: This illustrious man of God was born in Central City, Kentucky, on December 18, 1842. He was born of the Spirit of God in November, 1858 and united with the West Providence Church in Ohio County. By this Church he was licensed to preach in March, 1869. His ordination took place seven months later, in October, 1869. From this time on until thirty-five years later he served a total of sixteen churches for once a month preaching; his terms of service ranging from two to twenty-five years at these churches. His longest pastorate was at New Hope Church in Muhlenberg County, where he labored twenty-five years. He also served Nelson Creek, Ebenezer, Friendship, Bethel, Oak Grove, Mt. Carmel, and South Carrollton in this same county. Walton's Creek, Slaty Creek, Beaver Dam, Rockport, and West Point Churches in Ohio County also received his pastoral ministrations. Green River and Station Churches in McLean County were pastored by him for a number of years. In the midst of his prime he was suddenly cut off from further usefulness by a stroke of paralysis. This was in 1904, and for a period of twenty years he was an invalid. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Maddox, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, on May 2, 1925. His funeral was preached by the pastor of the Church at Beaver Dam, Bro. C. C. Dawes, and his body was laid to rest in the Sunny Side cemetery. He had a very fruitful ministry and baptized over 1,000 persons into the fellowship of the Churches he served. Being very evangelistic in his preaching and always carrying a burden for souls, he won many to the Lord. He always stood firm for the "faith once for all delivered unto the saints," and was truly a good minister of Jesus Christ. Gasper River Association and Ohio County Association both enjoyed his guiding hand as Moderator for a number of years. He was twice married. First, to Miss Samantha Tichenor, in November, 1865; next, to a sister of his former wife, Mrs. Zelma Wade, in September, 1882. To these two unions nine children were born. At the time of his death five were still living. Since that time one that we know of has died, Mrs. Albert Maddox.
