A Sesquicentennial History of the Green River Missionary Baptist Church 1836 - 1986, Written and Compiled by Wendell Holmes Rone, Sr., For the One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the Founding of the Church, 1987. By permission of author. Ohio County DALE BRAUNS became the Thirty-Sixth Pastor of the Green River Church by its vote on November 22, 1961. Brethren S. G. Gilstrap, W. I. Davis and J. Homer Matthews were appointed as the Pulpit Committee and were instructed to bring four "prospects" before the Church and by a process of elimination the selection of a Pastor would be made by the Church. Therefore, on the date given the Church voted on four prospects, who received the following number of votes: Brother Blackburn (2), Brother Basham (2), Brother Jennings (10) and Brother Brauns (46). In the "run-off" between Brother Jennings and Brauns, the first received 5 votes and the latter received 55 votes. By this means he became the new Pastor. The call was for the remainder of the unexpired term of Brother Crowe. In August, 1962, Brother Brauns was called for another year. He continued in the pastorate until April 28th, 1963; when he asked to be relieved of the duties immediately, and the Church met his request. He had served for nineteen months. We have no particulars concerning his life. Brauns Gilstrap Davis Matthews Blackburn Basham Jennings Crowe = none http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/ohio/brauns.d.txt
