BERRY, clerk, P. O. Carlisle, was born in Bath County, Ky., March 28, 1831, to Samuel and Elizabeth (Rennick) Berry; he was born in Nicholas County, Ky., is a farmer by occupation and still living. She was born in Bourbon County and is still living; they have six children, of whom Jesse, our subject, is next to the oldest. He received a common school education, and assisted his father in the livery business and stage driving for a number of years, when he became clerk in a hotel and is now engaged at the Kimbrough House in Carlisle; he is a man of generous disposition and obliging manners, and merits the esteem in which he is held. He was married at Aberdeen, Ohio, Feb. 8, 1877, to Miss Annie E. Call, who was born in Nicholas County, Dec. 11, 1857; they have one son, Harry Foster, born May 27, 1880. Mrs. Berry was a daughter of Henry and Mary E. (Ralls) Call. He was born in Virginia and died in September, 1867; she was also born in Virginia, and is still living. Owing to his industry and economy, Mr. Berry is now the owner of a pleasant home in Carlisle, the house having been constructed on a plan of his own design.
