Used by permission. [Muhlenberg] SAMUEL ANDREW KITTINGER: Rev. S. A. Kittinger has been a member of this Association since his ordination in 1926, serving the Station Church in McLean County as well as others. He was born on April 5, 1898, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, and is the son of O. T. and Betty Vincent Kittinger. He was converted at the age of eleven and united with the Cedar Grove Church in Muhlenberg County being baptized by Elder J. N. Jarnagin. Our brother was reared on a farm and in his young manhood labored as a woodsman and as a coal miner. For three and one-half years he taught rural schools. He graduated from the Bremen High School in 1925. He spent two terms in the School of Religion, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. In the year 1915 he was licensed to preach by the Mt. Pisgah Church in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, and was ordained to the ministry by the Cedar Grove Church in the same county on May 9, 1926, by Elders L. J. Stirsman, H. L. Thornton, and Frank Farmer. Since that time he has served the following Churches in this and neighboring Association: Station, 1926-1943; Mt. Vernon, 1940-1943; Rumsey, 1928-1935; Basin, 1931-1935; all in Daviess-McLean Association; Cherry Hill, 1927-1939; Vernal Grove, 1927-1931; Dunmor, 1936; South Carrollton, 1937-1943, and Mt. Pisgah, 1935-1943; all in Muhlenberg County. Our brother at present is the Moderator of the Muhlenberg County Baptist Association. He has been a member of the Executive Mission Board of the Daviess-McLean Association since 1926. By virtue of his office he is the Chairman of the Mission Board of the Muhlenberg County Association. He was married to Miss Estelle Wiggins, the daughter of E. G. and Edna Whitmer Wiggins, on April 13, 1919. They have one daughter, Ruby Evelyn. Mrs. Kittinger is a consecrated Christian woman bearing patiently a preacher's trials and burdens. Brother Kittinger is a kind-hearted man of splendid character. His people love him and enjoy his ministry. In the face of many handicaps he has persevered and has served his generation well.
