"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, p. 455. Used by permission. [Muhlenberg] CHARLES E. EADES: The subject of this sketch was of English-Irish origin and was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, on August 28, 1853. He was the seventh of eight children born to Robert and Mary Coleman Eades. In the years of his youth he received his education in the county schools at hand as he grew up on a farm. At the age of seventeen he entered a general store at Greenville, Kentucky, as a clerk. In 1877 he engaged in the grocery business which he followed for about two and one-half years. In the year 1881 he sold out his store, after having engaged in the clothing business for about one year, and moved to Owensboro, Kentucky, where he remained about a year in the men's clothing business. He returned to Greenville, Kentucky and engaged in the same business the remainder of his earthly life. In the fall of 1869, Brother Eades was converted and baptized into the fellowship of the Oak Grove Church, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. He became a member of the Greenville Church in 1871 and continued as a faithful and efficient member until his death. He was very active in Associational work, serving as clerk and assistant clerk of the Daviess County Association from 1896 to 1907. When the Muhlenberg County Association was organized in 1907, he was elected as the first Moderator and was faithfully filling that office at the time of his death which occurred on February 25, 1910. Brother Eades was united in marriage to Miss Annie Howard of Greenville, Kentucky, on October 6, 1880. They had one son and one daughter. Our brother proved himself to be a model citizen and Christian leader by being a loyal servant of the Lord. He proved again that a man can engage in business and also be a Christian at the same time.
