Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Monroe County. PETER KINGERY was born August 16, 1846, in Monroe County, where he grew to manhood. His father, William Kingery, was born in 1825, also in Monroe County, Ky.; he was a son of Peter Kingery, Sr., who was a native of Virginia, born about 1802, and of English descent. William Kingery, Jr., the father of our subject, married about November 21, 1845, Rebecca, daughter of John and Nancy (Billingsley) Arterburn, of Monroe County. To their union were born two sons: Peter (subject) and John. Peter first married, January 7, 1875, Mary E., daughter of Felix G. and Martha M. (White) Matthews, of Monroe County. She died April 28, 1876. Mr. Kingery then married, June 21, 1877, Louvisa J., also a daughter of Felix Matthews. To them have been born Mary B., Martha R., Margaret H., and Felix O. Mr. Kingery is the owner of a comfortable home, besides a good store, well stocked with marketable goods. He has been postmaster and notary public; is a member of the Baptist Church; in politics is a Republican, and is well posted on the current topics of the day.
