Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Monroe County. GEORGE T. FRAIM was born February 8, 1841, on Indian Creek, two miles east of Flippin, Ky. He is the third child born to John M. and Permelia (Flippin) Fraim. For further record see John M. Fraim's biography. George T. was reared on a farm and received a fair English education. He remained with his parents until the breaking out of the war. September, 1861, he enlisted in defense of his country in Company G, Ninth Kentucky Infantry, and acted as commissary sergeant. His first engagement was near Crab Orchard, Ky.; he also took part in the battles of Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge and Kenesaw Mountain; as in all engagements of his regiment, except those of Peach Tree Creek and Lovejoy Station. During the last three months of his service he was on detailed duty; was discharged at Louisville, Ky., in the spring of 1865; returned to his home and engaged in farming, which he has since continued. He married in March, 1865, Catharine H. Downing, of Monroe County, a daughter of Daniel E. and Matilda (Howard) Downing. Mr. Fraim and wife are the parents of eight children: Matilda A., James E., Margaret J., Lucy B., Permelia M., William C., Demetrius O., Thomas C. Mr. and Mrs. Fraim are members of the Missionary Baptist Church. For about ten years after his marriage he lived on Indian Creek, after which he lived in Allen County six or seven years. In the fall of 1883 he located where he now resides one half mile south of Flippin. During the war Mr. Fraim was a brave and true soldier. In politics is a Republican, and cast his first presidential vote for Gen. Grant.
