Flynn is one of the new pastors in this Association and was born in Lyon County, Kentucky, on November 1, 1904, the son of Robert Timothy and Malissa Jane Bridges Flynn. He attended school in his native county until the family moved to Paducah, Kentucky, in 1916, where he finished high school. He is a graduate of the West Kentucky Bible School, class of 1931, conducted by the late Elder H. Boyce Taylor, of Murray, Kentucky. He has also completed two years in the Seminary at Louisville, Kentucky. Before entering the ministry he served as a lumber inspector and labored in the sheet metal and furniture business. He was converted in May, 1923, and united with the East Baptist Church, Paducah, Kentucky, being baptized by the pastor, Elder A. E. Lassiter. He later moved his membership to the Twelfth Street Church, Paducah, Kentucky, and was licensed to preach by this Church in November, 1927. This same Church ordained him to preach in December, 1928, with Elders Jesse Neel, L. W. Carlin, and Jago Washer, a missionary to Brazil, serving as the presbytery. He has served the following Churches: Grace, Paducah, Kentucky; Flint, Blood River, and Sugar Creek, in Calloway County, Kentucky; Eddyville, Caldwell County, Kentucky; and Livermore, McLean County, Kentucky. He served the Bethlehem, Pleasant Hope, Carmack, and Bethany Churches in Lyon County, in connection with his pastorate at Eddyville, preaching to these Churches on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. He has been at Livermore since January, 1943. In the years 1935-1936 he served as Moderator of the Caldwell County Association. He married Miss Lera Mae Walters of Paducah, Kentucky, on September 25, 1932. They have three children, two girls and one boy. Brother Flynn has served well in the Churches which he has pastored and is gaining a way into the hearts of the people of Livermore.
