"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, p. 378. Used by permission. [McLean] WALTER TRUMAN COCHRAN: This young and promising minister of the Gospel was born at Livia, McLean County, Kentucky, on March 11, 1920, and is the son of Lee and Virgie Cochran. He is also a brother of Rev. Vernon Cochran, who was licensed to preach by the Glenville Baptist Church and ordained by the First Church at Russellville, Kentucky. Young Cochran was reared on a farm and followed that occupation until his entrance into the ministry. He has completed his grade and high school work and part of his college education. Many years of further achievement along educational lines are still before him. He was converted at the age of eleven and baptized into the fellowship of the Glenville Baptist Church by Rev. J. B. Coleman. This same Church licensed him to preach in August, 1939, and ordained him in August, 1940, with Revs. C. R. Hill, D. Arthur Dailey, B. F. Waite, W. S. Coakley, O. L. Weir, L. M. Winstead, and George H. Riggs serving as presbytery. Since that time he has served the following Churches: Rosine, Ohio County, August, 1940, to May, 1941; Basin, McLean County, March, 1941, to March, 1942; Bethel, McLean County, since April, 1941; and Stanley, Daviess County, since May, 1941. In all of his pastorates he has evidenced a growing ability of being able to carry greater pastoral responsibilities and the future looks exceeding bright for our young brother. As yet he is unmarried.
