Zaring and Hattie Allen (his mother's maiden name), was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, April 30, 1875. He was educated at the public schools of Shelbyville and lived there until his removal to Richmond in 1892. He became associated with his father in the milling business, and after the death of the latter in 1912 he succeeded him as president of the Zaring Mill & Grain Company. He received all the degrees of York Rite Masonry in the local bodies. He is also a Shriner and a member of the Consistory. He was elected Master December 27, 1902, serving one year. He was elected Eminent Commander of Richmond Commandery in 1903. By close attention to his business he has made a great success and a splendid career still seems before him. Frank, friendly, generous and public-spirited he [sic] is esteemed by all who know him. No man is more loyal to his friends.
