"A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943" by Wendell H. Rone. Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky, pp. 362-363. Used by permission. [Madison] DWIGHT H. WILLETT: Dwight Willett was the son of Rev. J. J. Willett and was born in Dunkirk, Indiana, on October 5, 1891. His mother was Miss Mary Alice Brown. His educational advantages were good and he was able to attend both grade and high school and also Georgetown College, Baylor University, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. From these institutions he received the A.B., A.M., Th.M., and Th.D. degrees. His ordination took place at the Berea Baptist Church, Berea, Kentucky, on March 28, 1913. After serving Churches in Eastern Kentucky for some time he came to the Calhoun Baptist Church in 1918 and remained until the latter part of 1919. His pastorates after that time were as follows: Nicholasville, Kentucky, 1920-1921; Walton, Kentucky, 1922-1924, Wornall Road Church, Kansas City, Missouri, 1924-1926; Sedalia, Missouri, 1932-1938; Erwin, Tennessee, 1939-1942. Because of ill health he resigned the last mentioned Church in 1942 and his untimely death came on January 23, 1943, and his burial took place at Erwin, Tennessee. For about five and one-half years he served as teacher of Church History and Homiletics in the Kansas City Baptist Theological Seminary; this was in the period 1926-1932. He also served as the President of the Missouri Baptist Ministers Conference and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, for some time. He married Miss Sallie Jane Siler of Jellico, Tennessee, on June 30, 1920. They have one or two children. We have very few other particulars about his life and must be content to stop here. After a ministry of thirty years he gently fell on sleep. He leaves his aged father, Rev. J. J. Willett, his widow and children, and other relatives to mourn his passing. His ministry was worthwhile.
