A History of Masonry in Madison County, Kentucky 1812-1913, compiled and written by Robert R. Burnam, 1914, p. 105. WILLIAM NEALE BENNETT, to whom came the honor of presiding over Richmond Lodge during its centennial year, was born November, 1872, in Madison County. His people on both paternal and maternal sides have been residents of Madison County since pioneer days, his family connection being probably as large in its various ramifications as any man in the County. His early life was spent on a beautiful farm north of Richmond owned by his grandfather, Samuel Bennett, and which he himself now owns. He was educated by private tutors and at Central University. His business life has been a successful one. He loves sports of all kinds and is deservedly popular with all who know him. He received all his Masonic degrees from Entered Apprentice to Knights Templar in the local bodies. Was elected Master of his Lodge December, 1912. His year was a successful one. In the other branches of the Order further promotion still awaits him. He was succeeded as Master by Dr. J. G. Bosley December, 1913.
