Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887, Lincoln County. ARMSTEAD M. FELAND is a representative of one of the pioneer families of Kentucky. His grandfather, James Feland, came to Kentucky from Virginia at a very early day, and in company with the family of a Mr. Robison, consisting of the parents and four small children. On their journey Robison was killed by Indians, and Mr. Feland took upon himself the care and protection of the family. The youngest of these four children was a daughter named Isabella, who, when about sixteen years old, proved her gratitude to her former benefactor by becoming his wife. Mr. Feland, for a short time, was a resident of Harrod's Station, but after the danger from Indian depredations had subsided, he settled a tract of land about three miles north from the site of Logan's Fort, being the land now occupied and owned by A. M. Feland. James Feland became an extensive farmer and land owner, and died in 1819. He reared three sons: Thomas, James and William; the wife, Isabella, dying soon after the birth of the latter. James Feland, the second of these sons, and father of our subject, was born on the above named farm in 1793; married Sallie Milner, daughter of Armstead Milner, who was a neighboring farmer. Sallie Milner was born in 1796 in Lincoln County, and died in 1883. James and Sallie Feland had but two children: Isabella (deceased wife of W. M. Hay) and A. M. Feland. James served as a soldier in the war of 1812, under Dick Johnson, and participated in the battle of the Thames, where he was severely wounded. He died in Lincoln County in 1828. A. M. Feland was born in 1820, and has devoted his life to farming and stock raising, in which he has been successful. He is in politics a Democrat, but has not been in public life, save a service of three years as sheriff of Lincoln County. Mr. Feland has five sons: William B., a miner of Colorado; Albert, a farmer; F. R., a lawyer and an editor at Lawrenceburg, Ky.; Dr. John Morgan, at Bath County, Ky., and A. M., aged seven, at home. Mr. Feland is an honored member of the Masonic fraternity
