Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887, Lincoln County. JAMES DUDDERAR is of German origin, being a descendant of George P. Dudderar, who immigrated to the United States in 1722, and settled in Philadelphia where he reared a family. Conrad Dudderar was a son of George P. Dudderar, and in early manhood removed to Frederick, Md., where he married and reared a family of children, among whom was Samuel Dudderar. The latter had three children, viz: Catherine, Conrad and William. With his family he removed to Kentucky about 1798, and settled in Lincoln County, after which were born in the latter place Samuel, Margaret, Elizabeth, John and Polly Ann Dudderar. Conrad, the eldest son of Samuel Dudderar, and father of our subject, was born in Maryland, and at the time of the removal of the family to Kentucky was five years old. Here he grew to maturity, and married Catherine Ruffner, and this union resulted in the birth of five children: James, Margaret, Samuel, Mary Ann and Catherine. James was born January 8, 1820. He married Lucy A. Dudderar in 1846; she died September 2, 1881, leaving no children. He was married to his present wife, Mary K. Dudderar, September 6, 1883, and their alliance has resulted in the birth of one daughter, Mary E. Dudderar, born in 1886. Mr. Dudderar has lived an active business life, devoted to merchandise and agriculture. Dudderar Ruffner = PA MD http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/lincoln/dudderar.j.txt
