Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. HARLAM P. WHITAKER, a native of Sullivan County, N. H. was born August 24, 1838, and is a son of Emery and Mary C. (Colston) Whitaker, natives of New Hampshire. His father having died, the subject and his mother immigrated to Maysville, Ky., in 1860. Harlam P. Whitaker was educated in New Hampshire, and began to read law under his brother, Emery Whitaker, at Maysville, Ky. He was admitted to the bar, in Maysville, in 1863, and then removed to Winchester, Ky., where he remained until 1868, and then went to Covington. He represented the Second District of Covington in the Legislature in 1877 and 1878. May 9, 1872, he married Miss Blanche L. Inskeep, of Xenia, Ohio, who died November 31, 1886.
