Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. WINSTON WALDEN, agent for the Kentucky Central Railroad, was born in Louisville, Ky., January 27, 1861, and is a son of Rev. J. C. and Louisa B. (Winston) Walden. J. C. Walden was born in Barren County, Ky., is quite a distinguished minister in the Christian Church, and has been preaching over twenty years. Mrs. Louisa B. Walden was born in Rock Castle County, Va., and is a daughter of Robert Winston. Winston Walden, when two years of age, was taken from Louisville to New Liberty, Owen Co., Ky., where his father was engaged in preaching the gospel. He remained about six years, then moved to Mason County, Ky., and remained about the same length of time, then to Fleming County, Ky., thence our subject went to Carroll County, and attended school and farmed to some extent. He then went to Cynthiana, Harrison Co., Ky., and attended the graded and high schools for about two years. He was then engaged in a general store as a clerk in Cynthiana, for a period of one year; then in a grocery store for about six months, and afterward took charge of a grocery store for L. Grinnam, but remained only about six months. In 1881 he went to Covington, and accepted a position as clerk in the Arrington Hotel, and remained until 1883. He was then employed by the Kentucky Central Railroad, in the local freight office, as report clerk, and subsequently made billing clerk, then through billing clerk, then chief clerk, and January 1, 1886, was appointed agent for the road at Covington and Cincinnati, which position he has since retained. Mr. Walden is quite a young man to hold so important a position, but his energy, perseverance and business capacity, enable him to hold his position with honor.
