Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. W. C. TUPMAN was born in Kenton County, Ky., June 9, 1850, and is a son of Francis and Margaret (Davidson) Tupman. Francis Tupman settled in Kenton County, Ky., in 1828, where he engaged in farming, and served as deputy sheriff of that county six terms. The paternal grandfather of our subject was Col. John Tupman, of Virginia, who served in the war of 1812. He married a Miss Ferris, also of Virginia. W. C. Tupman was educated in the schools of Cincinnati, and graduated at the Ohio Medical College. In 1886 he opened a drug store in Covington, Ky., and has a large trade. In 1872 he married Jeanetta V. Martin, daughter of Charles T. Martin and Almira (Foster) Martin; the former is the secretary of the city gas company. Two children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Tupman: Paul and Marguerite. Mr. Tupman is a member of the Masonic lodge, is a Knight of Honor, a member of the A.O.U.W., and in religion is a Methodist.
