SMITH, a Catholic priest of Covington, Ky., was born in Ireland April 10, 1838, and is a son of John and Annie (Radmand) Smith. James W. Smith landed in New Orleans in 1850, remained there one year and then went to Maysville, Ky., where he began to study for the priesthood, and was two years at St. Thomas, and also at St. Pius, Scott County, one year.
