Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. HON. MICHAEL T. SHINE, county judge of Kenton County, was born in the county of Kerry, Ireland, May 4, 1850, and is a son of Bartholomew and Catherine Shine, natives of Ireland. Michael T. Shine received his education in the national schools of Ireland, and immigrated to the United States in 1865, where he located in Covington, Kenton Co., Ky. In 1875 he began to read law with Judges Cleary and Scott, of Covington; was admitted to the bar in 1876, and has since been engaged in very successful practice. In August, 1879, he was elected to the Legislature, serving one term, and in 1882 was elected county judge, which position he still holds, having been re-elected in 1886. September 27, 1881, he married Miss Rose Jennings, of Covington, and two children have blessed this union: Mary and Mamie. Mr. Shine is a member of the Catholic Church.
