Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. HENRY F. SCHULTZE, a native of Hanover, Germany, was born December 31, 1832, and is a son of Casper and Bernadine (Haarmeyer) Schultze, natives of Hanover, who came to the Untied States in 1836, and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1837. Casper Schultze was born in 1801, and in 1848 engaged in the grocery business in Covington, Ky., where he died in 1876. Henry F. Schultze was educated in the city schools of Covington, Ky., and from 1855 to 1860 engaged in the dry goods business, and then clerked for David Gibson, in Cincinnati, and was interested in a commission house. In 1864 he was engaged in the distillery business, owning the White Mill Distillery in Cincinnati, and was superintendent of the Miami Distillery at Hamilton, Ohio, from 1874 to 1877. In 1880 he was elected secretary of the German Mutual Fire Insurance Company, of which company Charles Mahlman was president. This company was organized in 1874, and has a State charter. In 1865 he married Margaret Ballman, of Covington, a native of Hanover, Germany, and six children have been born to them: Eleanor, Mary, Kate, Margaret, Casper and Melchior. Mr. Schultze owns a wholesale liquor store at the corner of Eleventh and Russell Streets, and is a member of the Catholic Church.
