Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. WILLIAM S. SABEN (deceased) was born in Vermont, a son of Moses and Ruth Saben, natives of that State. William S. Saben was reared in his native State, and when twenty-five years of age immigrated to Kentucky, acting for several years as a conductor on the Kentucky Central Railroad. He afterward bought a farm in Kenton County, Ky., where he lived until his health failed, and he returned to Vermont, where he died in 1866. He was married, October 8, 1857, to Mahala C. Chowning, a daughter of John and Julia (Hutchinson) Chowning, of Pendleton County, Ky., and to this union four children were born: John M., Arabella, Clarence A. and Mary E., all of whom are still living. November 23, 1869, Mrs. Saben married Thomas Dance, a native of Kentucky, and one son and two daughters [sic] blessed their marriage: Caddie O., an infant (deceased), and Lula K. Mr. Dance died in 1878, having settled where his widow now resides the same year. Mrs. Dance owns 200 acres of well-improved land. The family are members of the Christian Church.
