Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. CHARLES C. RENSFORD was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 30, 1846, and is a son of Henry and Susan M. (Miller) Rensford, the latter a native of Ohio County, Ind. Henry Rensford was a steamboat engineer for about four years and engaged in business at 25 Broadway, Cincinnati, Ohio, for about four years; he was chief engineer of the city water works of Covington for about six years, and is now chief engineer of the Birmingham, Rolling Mills, of Birmingham, Ala. Charles C. Rensford was educated in the common schools of Indiana; was engineer with his father from 1861 to 1871, and then was engaged as assistant engineer in the United States Navy until the close of the war, when he received his discharge, and returned to Cincinnati, where he served his time as a blacksmith. He again went on the river about 1866 as assistant engineer. He resided at Memphis, Tenn., for about three years, since which time he has been engineer, having been engaged there in all fifteen years. June 29, 1862, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he married Miss Sue Odlum, a native of England, and a daughter of Thomas Odlum. Five children have blessed this union: Hugh, Eddie, Susie, Neile and Katie. Mr. Rensford is Past Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of Kentucky, I.O.O.F., is Secretary Kenton Lodge, No. 24, I.O.O.F., Reporter of Acme Lodge, No. 1154, K. of H., and is Secretary of the Golden Rule Lodge, No. 539, K. & L. of H., President of I.O.O.F. Hall Association, and Lieutenant Colonel and Banneret Lieutenant-General's staff, P.M., I.O.O.F. of U. S. His political affiliations are with the Democratic party.
