Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. THOMAS REED, of the firm of Thomas Reed & Sons, undertakers and funeral directors of Covington, Ky., was born in Somersetshire, England, June 2, 1809, and is a son of Abraham and Ann Reed. He is a pattern maker by trade, landed in the city of New York, May 18, 1842, arrived in Cincinnati June 5, 1842, then came to Covington, Ky., where he has remained to the present time, and where he worked at his trade until 1848; and then engaged in the undertaking business, in which he has since been engaged. In 1835 he married Miss Ann Orchard, who bore him five children, three of whom are living: John, Thomas and Mary A. Mrs. Reed died in December, 1861, and in 1862 Mr. Reed married Mrs. Mary Jordan, who died in April, 1885. In August, 1886, Mr. Reed married Miss Dora Kanrod.
