Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. JOSEPH W. PUGH, assessor of Kenton County, Ky., was born in that county January 7, 1855, the son of John B. and Catharine (Everett) Pugh, both natives of Kentucky. John B. Pugh was a bricklayer by trade, which trade he followed all his life in Covington. He reared a family of five children, viz: Joseph W., Mahala, Edward, John and Alice. Joseph W. Pugh was brought up in Covington, where he received his education. About 1872 he moved to the country, and has since been engaged in the dairy business. He was elected assessor of Kenton County in 1882, and has served in that capacity ever since. October 7, 1877, he married Cynthia Marshall, a daughter of John and Sarah Marshall, of Kenton County. To their union have been born three children--one daughter and two sons--viz: Benjamin, Mellie F. and Frank M. Mr. Pugh is a K. of P., and in politics is a Democrat.
