Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. DAVID B. MILLER, M. D., a native of Clark County, Ohio, was born eight miles from Springfield, February 18, 1826, and is a son of Reuben and Mary (Hedges) Miller, natives of Virginia. The paternal grandfather of our subject was Robert Miller, a Methodist preacher and pioneer settler of Fleming County; he was of Scotch origin. David B. Miller was educated at Springfield, Ohio, where he graduated at the high school. He read medicine under Robert Rodgers, of Springfield, and then entered the Ohio Medical College at Cincinnati, where he graduated in 1848. He practiced in Springfield one year, then two years in Eaton. In January, 1852, he moved to Covington, Ky., and engaged in the drug business until September, 1865, when he engaged in business with Albert B. Breed until 1868. In 1876 he engaged in the blast furnace business, making pig iron, in Alabama, but returned to Covington in 1882. In 1854 he married Patti Broaddus, of Covington, who died in 1856, and in 1858 Mr. Miller married her sister, Jennie Broaddus, who died in 1870, leaving two children: Reuben B. and Clifford N. In 1873 he married Miss Emma Dudley, of Covington, and three children have blessed this union, viz: Dudley B., Hugh and Irving D. Mr. Miller was treasurer of Covington in 1862-63, and politically he is a Republican.
