Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. CHARLES McDONALD was born in the County of Limerick, Ireland, May 28, 1847, and is a son of Randall and Mary (Fizzell) McDonald, natives of Ireland, who immigrated to Canada, and thence to the United States. Charles McDonald moved from Quebec, Canada, to Covington, Ky., in 1852, where he was educated in the common schools. He was a stone-cutter by trade, but in 1876 engaged in the furniture and marble business with P. O. Pehan. They now employ fifty hands, and ship to various towns, principally Covington and Cincinnati, the business amounting to about $75,000. Mr. McDonald obtains his building stone from Bedford, Ind., and the marble from Tennessee. In 1874 he married Miss Catherine Whittle, of Cincinnati, and four children have been born to them, viz: Randall, Richard, Mary and Katie. Mr. McDonald was a member of the school board three or four years ago, and is now one of the police commissioners of Covington. He is the owner of considerable property, and is a member of the Catholic Church. McDonald Fizzell Whittle Pehan = OH Canada Ireland http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/kenton/mcdonald.c.txt
