LONGMOOR was born in Kenton County, Ky., December 27, 1836, and is a son of George and Amanda (Hamett) Longmoor. George Longmoor was born in Bourbon County, Ky., in 1803, was a farmer for several years, and died August 27, 1847. Mrs. Longmoor was born in Mason County, Ky., in 1815, and died in 1853. Hugh T. Longmoor was educated in Casey's schoolhouse, on the Lexington Pike, where the homestead now is. In 1859 he commenced railroading on the Kentucky Central Railroad, where he was engaged about three years. Then he was with the Adams Express Company five years, as messenger. He worked on the Short Line Railroad five years, two years on a Pullman palace car, running from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Detroit, Mich., and is now in his tenth year with the Covington Dry Dock Company. Previous to railroading he was a farmer. October 21, 1859, in Cincinnati, he married Miss Hattie E. Gordon, daughter of Archibald Gordon, of Fulton, Ohio. She died March 5, 1884, and is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery. There are four children surviving her: Mary Ellen, and her twin brother, Archie (he being dead), Jennie Gordon, Fanny and Augustus H. In March, 1887, Mary Ellen was married by Rev. Dr. J. T. Plunkett to Joseph Fitzpatrick, a native of Carroll County, but raised in Clark County. He is now foreman at the Kentucky Central Railroad yards. Mr. Longmoor is a member of the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, also his daughters, Jennie G. and Fanny. Politically he is a Democrat.
