Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. RICHARD H. GRAY, a prominent lawyer of Covington, Ky., was born in Covington, February 22, 1835, and is the eldest of a family of three children born to Andrew J. and Catherine (Galbaugh) Gray. Andrew J. Gray was born in Covington, in 1829, was a son of John Gray, and was engaged in the manufacturer of tobacco, in which he was very successful. Mrs. Catherine Gray was born in Covington, and is a daughter of John Galbaugh, who was a stone-mason by trade. Richard H. Gray received a good education at the public schools of Covington, and then attended a high or select school, where he graduated in 1872. He commenced to read law in October, 1873, was admitted to the bar in December, 1875, and attended the law department of the University of Virginia, one year. Immediately after graduating he opened an office in Covington, where he has followed his profession very successfully ever since. He was married, October 16, 1877, to Cora B. Dye, of Campbell County, Ky., daughter of John and Mary (Ware) Dye. Mr. Gray is a member of the Masonic and K. of P. fraternities, and is, politically, a Democrat.
