Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. JOHN A. GOODSON, chief of police of Covington, Ky., is a native of Covington, and the youngest child of a family of five born to John A. and Mary (Wasson) Goodson. John A. Goodson, Sr., is a native of Georgia, and was a contractor and builder; his wife was a native of Kenton County, Ky., and a daughter of William Wasson. John A. Goodson, our subject, was educated at the schools in Covington. When a boy he was a clerk in a grocery store for about four years, and in 1877 became chief of police, which position he has since retained. He is a member of the K. of P. fraternity. Mr. Goodson is yet in the prime of life, with rare talents and experience, and being yet unmarried is sufficient reason for not giving his age.
