Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. WILLIAM GILDEHAUS was born in Hanover, Germany, December 25, 1836, and is a son of William and Sophia (Henning) Gildehaus. Our subject immigrated to American in 1854, and settled in Covington, Ky. Having served an apprenticeship in the old country at the tailor's trade he did journey work until 1865, when he engaged in the tailoring business at 642 Madison Street, in Covington, and now has one of the largest and most fashionable tailoring houses in the city, employing twenty hands. In April, 1860, he married Lena Miller, of Covington, a native of Germany, and ten children have been born to them. Mr. Gildehaus is a member of the Lutheran Church.
