Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Kenton Co. T. J. EDWARDS, M. D., was born in Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., Ky., September 12, 1847, and is the eldest of four living children born to G. W. and Isabella (Brown) Edwards. G. W. Edwards was born in Madison County, Ky. He has been a merchant for a number of years, and is now living in Falmouth, Ky. He is a son of Josiah Edwards. Mrs. Isabella Edwards was born in La Rue County, Ky., and is a daughter of Nathaniel Brown. T. J. Edwards, when a child, went with his parents to Boyle County, Ky., and remained until 1861; then enlisted in the Confederate Army under Gen. Morgan, Company B, Eighth Kentucky Cavalry. He was captured the same day that Gen. Morgan was, and remained a prisoner nineteen months. After the close of the war, the went to Pendleton County, Ky., and commenced to read medicine. He afterward attended lectures at the Ohio Medical College, and graduated in March, 1870. He next went to Cynthiana, Harrison Co., Ky., and remained one year; then went to Pendleton County, and remained until 1879, moving from there to Covington, Kenton County, where he has since resided. He was married February 2, 1881, to Mollie A. Cummins, of Covington, daughter of Edward Cummins. Four children have blessed this union, of whom two are living: America J. and William C. Mrs. Edwards is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. The Doctor is a Democrat politically.
