Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. JOHN M. H. BLAU, was born in Covington January 12, 1859, and is a son of Dr. John H. and Catherine (Froehlich) Blau, natives of Germany, who came to the United States in 1857. John H. Blau has been a physician for about thirty-five years, and is still practicing in Covington, the oldest German physician in the city. John M. H. Blau received in education in Covington, and attended the St. Xavier College, Cincinnati, Ohio, where he took the degree of A. B. in 1878. He then attended three full courses of medical lectures at the Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati, and graduated in March 1881, locating an intern in the Good Samaritan Hospital, where he remained one year. In 1882 he opened an office in Covington, where he is still practicing. He was united in marriage September 18, 1882, with Miss Schwegmann, daughter of Ben Schwegmann of Walnut Hill, Cincinnati, Ohio. Two children have blessed this union: Estella and Robert.
