Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. GEORGE M. BEDINGER was born in what is now Kenton County, Ky., May 19, 1826. His father was Dr. Benjamin F. Bedinger and his mother Sarah E. Wade. Dr. Bedinger was born in Bourbon County in 1797, and was a son of Maj. George M. Bedinger, a Revolutionary officer. Dr. Bedinger was a member of Congress from Kentucky for two terms, at an early date. He came to Kentucky about 1783, and settled afterward in Bourbon County. He died in Nicholas County, Ky., in 1843. His son Benjamin F. was brought up on the farm, and received his early education at Washington, Ky. At about the age of eighteen he commenced the study of medicine with Dr. Duke, of Washington, and graduated at the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. He moved to Kenton County in 1825, practice a few years and retired. His wife was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1800, and was a daughter of David E. and Sarah (Jones) Wade, natives of New Jersey. David E. Wade was also a Revolutionary soldier. George M. Bedinger was raised in Kenton County, settled at Erlanger in 1867, and followed farming until 1883. Since 1880 he has been engaged in the tobacco business. September 3, 1850 he was married to Miss Hannah Flemming, a daughter of Thomas and Dianna (Kennedy) Flemming, of Kenton County. To this union ten children have been born-five daughters and five sons-viz: Sarah E., Ellinor, George M., Olivia, Lavenia, Thomas, Benjamin F., Alexander P., Julia and an infant. Mr. G. M.
